Book: Terrier (Tortall: Beka Cooper series, Book 1) by Tamora Pierce*
*We’re breaking this book into two during the summer so we can have a chunky read, so don’t let the page count scare you off! Read the first part for June (pages 1-303), or just join us in July to discuss the entire thing.

Beka begins her training assigned to the Provost's Guard in the Lower City.  Though initially unsure of their new charge, Beka proves to be a valuable resource, although she is shy and has a hard time speaking in front of other people. Through her unusual magical abilities, Beka is able to hear the voices of ghosts who fly with pigeons until they are ready to enter the Peaceful Realms. From these talents she learns of two grave threats to Lower City.

If you haven’t read the book, join us anyway as we’re always looking for new suggestions!
